When you become a SMARTY customer, you may see a transaction on your bank statement that references SMARTY's Active Card Check.

An active card check is a form of authentication that some banks use to check the security and validity of card transactions.

Not every bank will use an active card check and the process doesn't result in any kind of charge to your card. The transaction will eventually be removed from your bank statement.
