Here are some answers to common questions that you may have before switching to SMARTY Social Tariff.

Who is eligible for the SMARTY Social Tariff plan?


Anybody who is in receipt of income-based employment support, income-based job seekers, income support, pension credit or universal credit are eligible for our SMARTY Social Tariff.

Can I have the SMARTY Social Tariff on more than one account?


Unfortunately, the SMARTY Social Tariff is only available on one account per customer. If a family member or a friend would like to sign up, we will need to run the eligibility checks in their name.

Can group owners and/or group members benefit from the SMARTY Social Tariff?


Unfortunately, this is not available as part of our groups offering. To use our SMARTY Social Tariff, you will need to leave the group and create an individual account by heading to our landing page and clicking 'I am new to SMARTY'.

How do I check if I’m eligible for SMARTY Social Tariff plan?


SMARTY have teamed up with DWP to provide validation for receipt of benefits. You can use our short form to provide your details which we can share with DWP to validate you are in receipt of the eligible benefits and therefore are eligible for the SMARTY Social Tariff.

How long does the SMARTY Social Tariff plan last?


We complete validations checks at least once every 12 months. On checking, if we find that you are no longer in receipt of the eligible benefits, you will receive a notification confirming that we are migrating you to a standard plan available at that time, which will be at no higher cost that the SMARTY Social Tariff.

Can I get SMARTY Social Tariff plan if I am new to SMARTY?


SMARTY’s Social Tariff is available to both new and existing customers. All you need to do is click ‘New to SMARTY’ and follow the application steps. If eligible for the Social Tariff, you can purchase it. For more information on switching provider and/or porting your number, click here.

How do I change to the Social Tariff plan if I am already with SMARTY?


To switch to the SMARTY Social Tariff as an existing customer, select ‘already with SMARTY’ above and fill out our short form. If eligible for the plan, we will do the rest for you! Your plan will change from your next renewal date.

Does it affect my credit score?


No, applying for the SMARTY Social Tariff will not affect your credit score.

Do I lose other benefits that I get with SMARTY with the SMARTY Essentials plan?


With Social Tariff, you will benefit from unlimited UK calls and texts and unlimited data, EU roaming (up to 12GB) and our Refer a friend scheme (when referring standard tariffs) and we will not do annual price rises. However, SMARTY’s Social Tariff cannot be used in conjunction with our groups offering or any other offers. You are however free to switch to another plan if you prefer that offer for your next renewal date.

What happens if I want to stop SMARTY’s Social Tariff plan halfway?


The SMARTY Social Tariff works in the same way as other SMARTY plans. So you can switch plans on your dashboard or stop whenever you want by turning off auto renew. To find out more on how to do this, click here.

If I moved from Three to the SMARTY Social Tariff plan, how can I migrate back?


We understand that sometimes customers would like to switch back to Three.
