A Group plan is a simple way to add extra SIMs to your account.

Whether you’re bringing your family accounts together or adding an extra SIM for your tablet, SMARTY offers a simple way to manage multiple SIMs from one place.

As always, each VOICE plan comes with unlimited calls and texts and no contract as standard.

There are different ways to switch from your old provider to a SMARTY Group plan, and we have listed them all below.

For Group Owners

Switching to SMARTY when activating your SIM

When switching to SMARTY, you have the option to transfer your existing phone number or get a new number and cancel the services with the current provider.

Switching to SMARTY after activating your SIM

When switching to SMARTY, you have the option to transfer your existing phone number or get a new number and cancel the services with your current provider.

Please make sure that you have opened your own number's account on your dashboard before following the switching guide.

Switching your Group Member's number after activating their SIM

When switching a Group Member to SMARTY, you have the option to transfer their existing phone number or get a new number and cancel the services with their current provider.

Before you continue, you need to make sure that you have the Group Member's permission to switch to SMARTY. Once you do so, please make sure that you have selected the correct Group Member's account in your dashboard (to make sure you don't accidentally switch their number to your account) and choose from the options below.

Switching your Group Member's number when purchasing the SIM and scheduling when this takes effect

Please follow the steps below.

  1. From your dashboard, head to 'Start a Group'.

2. Select 'Add a new SIM' if you'd like to purchase a plan for a NEW SMARTY customer.

3. Select who the SIM card is for.

4. Now you can enter the relevant details for the new member and hit 'Save and continue to order'.

5. Once you've selected the plan, you will see the checkout page with the option 'Switch to SMARTY'.

You can find out more about how to invite an existing SMARTY customer to be a Group Member by clicking here. If you have already purchased the SIM for the Group Member but now your Group Member will join SMARTY directly, then please contact us to cancel that SIM and process a refund at smarty.co.uk/contact.

For Group Members

New SMARTY customer

Are you looking to bring your number to SMARTY by using a PAC, or notify your current provider that you are leaving them to join SMARTY and cancel your services by using a STAC? If so, please follow the three ways to do this:

  • If you'd like the Group Owner to switch your number upon signing up, they can enter your PAC/STAC on your behalf when activating your SIM. This is also available in their dashboard, and the switch will be actioned within one working day of submission.

If you don't want the Group Owner to switch your number/services, then please do not share your PAC/STAC.

Please also be aware that when you join a Group, the Group Owner will also be able to request a PAC/STAC/INFO to port or switch your number from SMARTY to another provider in the future. Please note that if you don't want the Group Owner to have the ability to do this, then do not join the Group.

  • If you'd like to switch yourself to SMARTY as part of the group, you can enter your PAC/STAC upon activating your SIM card. This is also available later in the dashboard.

  • Do you want to schedule your port in/switching date? If you'd like to do this, there are two options available for Group Members:

    • Enter PAC/STAC the day before, by 5PM, for this to be completed on the next working day.

    • Do not join the group at this point. Instead, please sign up directly with SMARTY as a brand new customer; on an individual account, and join the group at a later time. By doing so, you can enter your PAC/STAC within your order journey and/or during activation, and schedule the date when you'd like this to be actioned.

Please note that you can still join the Group with the corresponding benefits (incl. moving the payment responsibility to the Group Owner) after your first month with us.

Existing SMARTY customer

If you are an existing SMARTY customer already, you do not to do anything! Your number will now move to the Group account. Please be aware that when you join a Group, the Group Owner will also be able to request a PAC/STAC/INFO to port or switch your number from SMARTY to another provider in the future.

Please note that if you don't want the Group Owner have the ability do this, then do not join the Group.
