To become a group owner, you must:

  • be a SMARTY customer

  • be 18 years old or older 🔞

  • ensure that anyone you invite to join your Group is at least 13 years of age, or have a parent/legal guardian permission to use SMARTY

  • not already be in a Group plan

Bear in mind that each Group can only have one Group owner and the role cannot be transferred to another person within the Group.

To start a Group by adding an existing SMARTY account

The simplest way to start a Group is via our app.

  1. Log in to the app and click You > Start a Group > People > Standard profile

  2. Enter the email address of the existing SMARTY account you'd like to add to your Group.

  3. You'll be asked to confirm their email and read and accept the T&C's

  4. Send the invitation! 📨

Via the dashboard:

  1. Go to your "Group Plans" page. You will find this by logging in and clicking on "Menu" in the top right corner of your dashboard.

  2. Click Start a Group

  3. Select Add an existing SMARTY account

  4. Enter the email address of the existing SMARTY account you’d like to add to your Group, and click Continue

  5. Read carefully, confirm the T&Cs, and click Send invitation! 🤜🤛

Next steps:

  • You won’t be charged with any payments at this point.

  • We’ll send an invitation to the email address you provided.

  • Once the existing member logs in and accepts your invitation, we’ll add them to your Group and send you a confirmation email with details of their plan and when their next payment is due.

Once you receive your confirmation email, you’ll have access to your new Group account. Head to your dashboard, and open your “Menu" on the top right corner. You'll always see the names of each of your Group accounts below yours. Simply click on a name to switch and navigate between accounts.

To start a Group by adding a new SIM

Via the app:

  1. Log in to the app and click You > Start a Group

  2. You'll then see People & Devices

Note: If the SIM is for a person under the age of 16, only you will be able to view details of this person's plan and the account can only be managed by the Group Owner

If the SIM is for use in a Device, such as an iPad select Devices to get started

  3. Add a Nickname for the profile

  4. Select the plan

  5. Confirm the postcode and address you want the SIM delivered to

  6. Read and accept the T&C's (the important bit).

  7. Make a payment for the first month and you're done! 😎

Via the web dashboard:

  1. Go to your "Group Plans" page. You will find this by logging in and clicking on "Menu" on the top right corner of your dashboard.

  2. Click Add a SIM and save 10% button > Add a new SIM.

  3. Choose whether the SIM is an extra for yourself or a child under 16, or a friend or family member.

  4. Enter the details required and click Save and continue to order

  5. Similarly to when you ordered your own SIM, select a plan and make a payment for the first month. It's as simple as that! 🙌

Next Steps:

  • You’ll receive an order confirmation email as soon as your payment has been processed and another email when your new SIM has been dispatched.

  • Once you receive your confirmation email, you’ll have access to your new Group account. Head to your dashboard, and open your Menu on the top right corner.
Click Switch accounts to toggle a view of your Group accounts. Simply click on a name to switch and navigate between accounts.

  • 📬 Your SIM should be with you within 2 business days and your new SIM’s billing cycle will start only when you activate the SIM.

Adding a spare SMARTY SIM

If you have a spare SMARTY SIM already, activate it first, then follow the steps above To start a Group by adding an existing SMARTY account or if you already have a Group here's how to add another SIM. If you’re unsure of how to activate your spare SIM, just follow these steps.
