If you'd like to join SMARTY, or have already joined, follow these 3 easy steps to transfer your phone number:

  1. Request a PAC in 60 seconds
  2. Activate your SIM in minutes (Skip this if you already have)
  3. Enter your PAC to start your transfer

That’s it.

What’s a PAC and how does this work?

Requesting a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC) (Step 1), doesn’t change a thing. Only when you use the code (Step 3), we’ll start your transfer and contact your previous provider to close your old account. A PAC code is valid for 30 days from the day it’s requested (this is the same for all providers).

1. Request a PAC in 60 seconds

To do this, simply text 'PAC' and your Date of Birth (ddmmyy) to 65075 (for free).

Example: PAC 241285

Make sure you’re texting from the SIM that currently holds the phone number you’d like to keep.

You'll be sent a PAC within 60 seconds.

Your provider’s reply must also include important information about any early termination charges or pay-as-you-go credit balances.

Got your PAC? Nice one.

Got your SIM? Go to step 2.

Already activated? Skip to step 3.

If your SIM hasn’t arrived yet, that’s it for now. Keep your PAC handy until then.

What if I can’t access my previous SIM?

2. Activate my SIM

Log in to your account and tap “Activate SIM” to begin your billing month and start using your data, calls & texts.

Activation should happen in just a few minutes, but could take up to 2 hours.

We’ll send you an email when your SIM is activated.

Once you get this email, go to step 3.

3. Enter your PAC to start your transfer

Log in to your account and head to your Account settings from your menu. Your menu will always be in the top right hand corner of your dashboard.

Scroll down and tap "Enter my PAC or STAC code" under "Switching from another mobile provider?" and follow the easy steps to enter your PAC and the phone number you want to keep.

Transfers should happen within 1-2 business days.

Submit within a business day (Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM) for your transfer to complete by 5PM the next business day. Outside of that, it might take an extra business day, or longer if it's a Bank Holiday.

We’ll send you an email and a text to your SMARTY SIM when your number transfer has gone through.

That’s it. 😉

When should I insert my SMARTY SIM?

Once you complete Step 3, you can continue using your previous SIM until your previous provider cancels your services with them or wait until you receive an email from us that your transfer has gone through.

At that point, pop your SMARTY SIM in, give your device a restart and you should be good to go!

Can I do this later?

Yes, but not forever. You’ll automatically get a brand new SMARTY number when you join. You can start using this number as soon as you activate your SMARTY SIM. The option to enter your PAC to transfer a previous number will remain available to you from your account settings. However, if you’re not using that previous number it may expire. It usually takes at least six months, but once it expires, you won’t be able to bring it over to SMARTY.

Bear in mind that a PAC code is valid for 30 days from the day it’s requested (this is the same for all providers).

Pro tip: You can start with Step 1 as soon as you order your SIM while you wait for your SIM to arrive.

Don’t have a SMARTY SIM yet?

Check out our plans on smarty.co.uk and order a SIM online or purchase one from a participating retailer.

Looking to switch and start using a new number instead?

You’ll automatically get a brand new SMARTY number when you join. When your SIM arrives, simply Activate your SIM and you’ll be good to go.

Having issues getting your SIM to work?

First, try restarting your device if you haven't already. This tends to resolve most issues.

If you have an iPhone

  1. Go to Settings > Phone > My Number, and make sure the right number is showing. If it isn't, please update the number.
  2. Go to Settings > Messages > Turn OFF iMessage.
  3. Go to General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
  4. Restart your device.
  5. Go to Settings > Messages > Turn ON iMessage.

This will recognise the new sim and have it verified 👍
