1. Request a PAC in 60 seconds

  1. Text 'PAC' to 65075 along with your DOB (DDMMYY) for free from your old provider's SIM.

    For example, PAC 010198

  2. You'll be sent a PAC within 60 seconds. 📲

Your provider’s reply must also include important information about any early termination charges or pay-as-you-go credit balances.

Got your PAC? Nice one.

If you've got your SMARTY SIM ready, then go to step 2.

Already activated? Skip to step 3.

If your SIM hasn’t arrived yet, that’s it for now. Keep your PAC handy until then.

What if I can’t access my previous SIM?


2. Activate my SIM

Simply download our app, log in and hit My SIM arrived or log in to your online account and tap Activate my SIM to begin your billing month and start using your plan.

Activation should happen in just a few minutes but could take up to 2 hours. ⏳

We’ll send you an email when your SIM is activated, but you can start step 3 while you wait.


3. Enter your PAC to start your transfer

In your dashboard, click:

Menu > Your phone number > Enter my PAC or STAC code

You'll need to enter your PAC and the number you wish to transfer to us.

For Group plans

If you're a Group Owner, you'll need to log in to your dashboard, and select:

Menu > Account settings > Your number.

Here you'll see the Group Owner's number and the Group Member's number's. Simply select the Group Member you wish to submit a PAC / STAC for, confirm the details and hit submit! ✨

You'll be asked to confirm the SMARTY number you are transferring over and the number you wish to transfer to SMARTY.


FAQ's

  • When will my number transfer?

Transfers should happen within 1 business day. 📅

Submit your PAC on a business day (Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM) for your transfer to complete by 5PM the next business day. Outside of that, it might take an extra business day, or longer if it's a Bank Holiday.

For example, if you submit your PAC to us on a Tuesday at 3pm, your number will transfer by 5pm the next day.

But if you submit your PAC to us on a Thursday at 7pm, your number won't transfer until the following Monday (providing it's not a Bank Holiday). 🙌

  • When will I know my number has transferred to SMARTY?

We’ll send you an email and a text to your SMARTY SIM when your number transfer has gone through. 📨

You'll also lose service on your old SIM when your transfer has completed, this is when you can insert your SMARTY SIM and start using your number with us.

  • Will I still have service whilst my number transfers?

On the day your number transfer is due to complete, you may experience a little downtime, so don't worry if you lose signal or are unable to make a call, send a text or use data. This is perfectly normal and only temporary. 📶

  • My number hasn't been transferred yet?

If your number is due to complete today, please allow up to 5pm for this to complete.

If your transfer hasn't happened on the date we provided you or there has been a delay and it is our fault, contact us via web-chat or at team@smarty.co.uk to claim compensation and so we can help.

  • When should I insert my SMARTY SIM?

Once you've submitted your PAC, you can continue using your previous SIM until your old provider cancels your services with them, or wait until you receive an email from us to confirm that your transfer has gone through.

At that point, pop your SMARTY SIM in, give your device a restart and you should be good to go! 🎉

  • Can I bring my number over at a later point?

Of course! You’ll automatically get a brand new SMARTY number when you join. You can start using this number as soon as you activate your SMARTY SIM.

The option to enter your PAC to transfer a previous number will remain available to you from your account settings, however, if you’re not using that previous number it may expire. It usually takes at least six months, but once it expires, you won’t be able to bring it over to SMARTY.

  • How long is a PAC valid for?

A PAC code is valid for 30 days from the day it’s requested (this is the same for all providers). 📅

  • I'm having issues getting my SIM to work?

First, try restarting your device if you haven't already. We know it's old school, but it tends to resolve most issues.

  • My iPhone is displaying the wrong number?

  1. Go to Settings > Phone > My Number, and make sure the right number is showing. If it isn't, please update the number.

  2. Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and tick/untick the correct number

    The same process is for Facetime.

  3. Go to General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

  4. Restart your device.

  • What's the difference between a PAC and a STAC? 🤔

A Porting Authorisation Code (PAC) allows you to port your mobile number from one network to another.

A Service Termination Authorisation Code (STAC) allows you to cancel your mobile number with your previous supplier when you change networks.

Requesting a PAC or STAC doesn’t change a thing - it's only when you submit the code, this is when we’ll start your transfer and contact your previous provider to close your old account. Your old account won't be cancelled until the code is used and this is the same for all providers.
