If you'd like to join SMARTY, or have already joined, and would like to us to terminate your services with your previous network provider including the phone number associated, follow these 3 easy steps:

  1. Request a STAC in 60 seconds
  2. Activate your SIM in minutes (Skip this if you already have)
  3. Enter your STAC to start your transfer

That’s it.

What’s a STAC and how does this work?

Requesting a Service Termination Authorisation Code (STAC) (Step 1), doesn’t change a thing. Only when you use the code (Step 3), your old phone number and your services with your previous provider will be cancelled. A STAC is valid for 30 days from the day it’s requested (this is the same for all providers).

Important note: Make sure you’re ok with giving up your previous phone number before proceeding. Once you use your STAC, you won’t be able to get that number back. If you’re looking to keep your old number, follow these steps to transfer your previous number instead. We’ll also close your account with your previous provider for you as part of that process.

1. Request a STAC in 60 seconds

To do this, simply text 'STAC' to 75075 (for free).

Make sure you’re texting from the SIM that currently holds the phone number you’d like to cancel.

You'll be sent a STAC within 60 seconds.

Got your STAC? Nice one.

Got your SIM? Go to step 2.

Already activated? Skip to step 3.

If your SIM hasn’t arrived yet, that’s it for now. Keep your STAC handy until then.

What if I can’t access my previous SIM?

2. Activate my SIM

Log in to your account and tap “Activate SIM” to begin your billing month and start using your data, calls & texts.

Activation should happen in just a few minutes, but could take up to 2 hours.

We’ll send you an email when your SIM is activated, but you can start step 3 while you wait.

3. Enter my STAC to cancel my old number

Tap “I don’t want to transfer my number” under “Your phone number” on your dashboard, and follow the easy steps to enter your STAC and phone number you want to cancel.

Don’t see this option on your dashboard? You’ll always find it in your account settings.

Your previous number and account should be cancelled within 1-2 business days.

We’ll be able to give you a more specific date once you submit your STAC.

Submit within a business day (Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM) for this to complete by 5PM the next business day. Outside of that, it might take an extra business day, or longer if it's a Bank Holiday.

We’ll send you an email and a text to your SMARTY SIM when it’s all done.

That’s it. 😉

Can I do this later?

Yes, but make sure you’re not paying any extra charges. You’ll automatically get a brand new SMARTY number when you join. You can start using this number as soon as you activate your SMARTY SIM without closing your previous account, if you wish. The option to enter your STAC to terminate your previous service will remain available to you from your account settings.

Bear in mind that a STAC code is valid for 30 days from the day it’s requested (this is the same for all providers).

Pro tip: You can start with Step 1 as soon as you order your SIM while you wait for your SIM to arrive.
